America, Sweet America

On Easter Weekend 2020, written for a dear, dear friend named "The United States of America" and a concept named "freedom" we should always defend.

You were born upon liberty's foundation
Where searching souls could find liberation
A plan to establish a freedom forever here
Basic citizen rights that could never disappear
Inalienable, untouched – not granted by some king or queen
But residing within a divinity presence unseen
No army or politician could rape, pillage or plunder
No rogue or overreaching government could tear you asunder
Everyone in service would pledge to protect your Lady's light
Guarding against all foes – foreign and domestic – for our human right

In America, sweet America
America, sweet America

Dreams, hope and opportunity carried the seed of anticipation
For all forms of slavery, there could come emancipation
For the free and the brave, we would secure your holy home
Now common individuals, every day, had a place to call their own
To be fully alive would mean joining in a unified song
Businesses could thrive for those who worked hard and long
Our abundance was ours to keep, without any outside manipulations
Beyond the cruel rule or the strangulation of regulations
Founders risked life, limb, fortune and a sacred honor in the end
Everyone now tasked with a duty to preserve, protect and defend

America, sweet America
America, sweet America

Yes, it does take everyone's patriotic participation
And the vote and the voice of broad consideration
Everyone living under "natural law" – one unifying devotion
The Republic, and the flag for which it stands, bigger than anyone we vote in
But like high school cliques, special interests groups have played their hands unilateral
Tossing carelessly onto the heap all the damage collateral
Needing to chip away at what they would call just a piece of paper
They've abused and used you in one giant sinister caper
In 1913, a temporary tax for war, at 3 percent, never higher
This absurd tax on income – our hard-earned dollars stolen by the liar
The unaccountable – FBI, CIA, NSA, DOJ and the handpicked elite
Bohemians, Bilderberg, Trilateral, Federal Reserve – all in opulent secret retreat
In 63, a president with plans to splinter the CIA into the winds
Would never see his country, his nation, nor his children again

We all hurt for America, sweet America
America, sweet America

The dark force runs its course to derail all that is free
Spies without eyes monitor our moves and our privacy
A military industrial complex builds and destroys nation lands
Drones splatter the brain matter and blood, left on our hands
GMOs and fluoride in the food supply, reportedly for our health
Classified, redacted, undercover – operations are stoic and stealth
Tumbling towers blew open the door for a patriot’s desperate act
In the name of protection and security, the freedoms won’t be coming back
Wars without Congress permission or approval went right ahead
Whistleblowers of truth wind up imprisoned, tucked away or dead
Big pharma’s vaccination schedules are forced upon the parent and child
Spirits, embracing a freedom of choice, no longer free and wild
The Top 10 Amendments attacked by snipers with deadly aim
Curbing free speech because of hurt feelings and someone to blame
Silencing Alex, Milo, Laura and all those dreadful dissenting voices
No worries … you’ll just be next, when we’ll no longer have the choices
Gun owners must be loners who don’t really need that rifle
Those wanting to protect themselves from tyrants should simply sshhhh … stifle
Crocodile tears and children fears sell us an agenda to disarm
DUI stops, by curious cops, give us seizures that will do harm
Executive orders, protecting other borders, not one regime change success
College boys – under mere accusation – banished without due process
New voting systems, graduating Electoral College – that must be for the best
Who cares about those in Wyoming, Montana, Tennessee and the rest
Now we position politics and politicians in front-row, big-screen view
Making flashy Hollywood celebrities more important than you
Burgermeister Meisterburger now gloriously leads the way
House arrest is everyone’s test, we must now be quiet and stay
Now opposing voices and choices the elites definitely resent
Social Media giants - they silence the words of dissent
Pushing us to our limits, pulling on the public's last straw
Breaking our sinking spirits, defaming Constitutional law

Goodbye America, sweet America
America, sweet America

So what will it take and how far can they push?
Before we come out from hiding behind the burning bush
Sweet America – your glory we were to honorably protect
Against the slightest foe, every John Doe, the least suspicious suspect
Our power is as fragile as an invisible commitment and pledge
We have now been backed up, looking down, at the top of the highest ledge
The battleground is now, the enemy is here, we have finally met
The frog that would spring out of a heated pot, now slowly boils to death
We’ve solemnly given our power away; we’ve let you down again
Once more, we must risk our sacred honor to get back to where we’ve been
We’ve gone from “give me liberty or give me death” to “better safe than sorry”
We've purchased temporary safety while gazing into a dark night starry, starry
The lies should be no surprise – perhaps the leaders forgot their one true job
To subjugate themselves and protect the rights inherent, indivisible under God
And so we overcome viruses – our unconscious pollution – we rise in revolution
We reclaim what is born upon liberty’s foundation … a nation's Constitution
Bring back Locke, Hamilton, Jefferson, Franklin, Adams – architects with a guiding hand
As we, once again, put a stake in the ground and take a mighty stand

For you … America, sweet America
America, sweet America
America, sweet America

Beneath It All

Raging
Blaming
Shaming
Fingers pointing everywhere - past, present, future
A retreat from peace
Into shadows of regret, reeds grow high blocking the sun
Where is the one?
A silence is devoured by earthquakes that shatter glasses tumbling from cabinets
My rage
Turning the page
Revealing the frustration beneath it all
Beneath it all

In frustration
The end of anticipation
Into a full blown cry of bitter consternation
Eyes darting back and forth, to and fro
Where am I to go?
What has begun?
Where is the sanity? Where is the one?
Just a sea of hopelessness and depression beneath it all
Beneath it all

In a closet of darkness - depressed
So much suppressed
A pillow suffocates instead of comforts
Placed squarely upon the mouth
Which longs for breath
As it awaits the death
Shivering and shaking, holding nothing dear
Succumbing to the numbing fright, the paralyzing fear
Beneath it all
Beneath it all

And as acts of terror bind the deepest night
A gentle bird ... somehow ... enters into sight
Crossing the sky on its eternal flight
A glimmering hope brings a shimmering light
Faint at first, like the dawn's first peek
Then exclaiming "free" in a game of hide and seek
We rejoice in the recovery of a truth once known
The third eye has opened; this bird has flown
Now fully illumined we know what has begun
What's passed is passed, what's done is done
And so, awake, we greet the brand new sun
Remembering forever, we are the one
Beneath it all
Beneath it all
Beneath it all

Your Sky

A yoga teacher recently made a remark about reaching upwards during the practice. She used the words "your sky." I thought that was quite poetic...

Not your childhood, not your choice
Not your beliefs, not your voice
Sent to school to learn as they believe
Following their directions as well as their needs
But it’s yours to take back … reclaim, recover
It’s your life to, once again, create and discover
As you lay down on grass, without a question why
You fall into the sublime and your very own sky

It’s your sky – you peer into a world of forever
It’s your sky – you float upwards upon a feather
Your sky – you’re the one who calls in rain and clouds
Your sky – you’re the one who tears it apart with doubts
Your sky – a blank canvas with infinity as a backdrop
Your sky – you alone can make the thunder and rain stop

No longer holding chains from the past, you can start anew
You can paint in all colors magenta, indigo, green and blue
You can take a stand for who you are beyond preconceived beliefs
You can recall your playful and joyful spirit that resides far underneath
This is your day, this is your time, this is the moment to fly
It’s your life, it’s your soul’s journey, it’s your sky

Your sky – no need to struggle or try
No longer the dread of barely getting by
Your sky – ascend into the realm near the rays of the sun
Your time, your life – forever in this moment begun
There is that which was never born and never will die
It’s found in your heart and soul; it’s found in your sky

Your sky

Freedom - You Don't Know What You Got Until You Lose It

So what are we talking about here when we look towards our "freedom?"

For five years, my wife an I have spoken with various guests on our radio show "Freedom For All" (blogtalkradio.com/freedomforall) with each guest giving us his or her viewpoint on this multidimensional topic. Healers, political pundits, meditaters, social activists, authors, actors and even one free-spirited kid - they all had their various takes on "freedom."

What I am left with after all these encounters with the topic is that freedom doesn't really have a true definition. Without an opposing force upon this reality, there is no such thing as freedom. You must have oppression, slavery, force, attack, sickness before you come close to knowing the definition of freedom.

You don't know you are free until something comes along to take that way-of-being from you. Freedom is our natural state, and it's merely the limitation, stifling, censoring or enslaving that reveals what we have always held deep in our soul.

Freedom goes beyond our having a "choice" on matters. It's an identity that goes unnoticed until something unnatural comes along to compromise us.

For a nation that espoused freedom as a foundation, the declaration included the line about mankind being "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights." These rights and freedoms are not granted by men or kings or cops or any society laws. The overriding principle for humanity? Basic human rights that have existed as time began in the realm of what has been termed "natural law."

We are born free. And it's all we'll ever have. We have freedom within each one of us. We don't need to establish it. It is already there ... as an identity. We must merely watch for those elements in society - control, abuse, manipulation - that would attempt to suppress that which already exists.

May we be aware enough to recognize those alien forces, strong enough to turn from them, and wise enough to realize our true nature ... that can never truly be destroyed.

You are Free to Choose - Cultivating Discernment in These Challenging Times

Below is an excerpt from the book "Preparing for the Best," available HERE, which focuses on our challenging world and ways to address this. The one major point-of-power during times of change is the power of choice, a power available to all beings that claim the freedom that has always been theirs. This discernment will be necessary to cultivate and fine-tune as we move forward into any challenging times.

You are free to choose. To choose your friends, your foes, your furniture, your work, your home, your life. There is nothing outside of you that can really stop you or make you do anything you wish not to do. You don't have to be downtrodden. You don't have to be under fire. You don't have to be Joe, Sam, Jane, Sue, Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother. You don't have to be here … or there or over there in that relationship. You don't have to be anything, anywhere. The bottom line: You are free.

Can you feel that? Can you sense it? Somewhere inside – deep in the heart, way up in the higher reaches of mind – such a freedom sings and rings loud and clear.

But for so long, so long: "I just can't do it." "I want to, but I just can't." "I can't leave this job, even though I'm unhappy." "I guess I'll be sad my whole life." "I know I'll be mad my whole life." "My boyfriends are all the same." "My wives are all the same." "I'm stuck." For so long, we have placed ourselves in boxes, neatly wrapped in definitions given us by those who wouldn't know. We have remained in the boxes – stuck, trapped, defined – letting life move on. We've let it flow all around us as on the banks of the river, in anemic pathos, we've sat in our boxes. We have accepted definitions and imprisoned ourselves, choosing to remain in an unconscious state, miles below our potential, feeling low, unfulfilled, and thinking we had to stay since we knew no other way.

But the word now? You don't have to be stuck. How many times must we hear it before we know it to be true? You are not trapped. You are not imprisoned. You are not held back. You are free. You are free to choose and make your life.

For the chains that bind us are our own. Yes, this is true, no matter how we'd rather find a victim's comfort in blame, denial and passivity. The chains are negative thought-forms and unresolved emotions that we've acquired through our own experiences. The chains are ours. We've done it to ourselves, even when our own beliefs about life, the world and ourselves come at us by way of the actions of those parents, siblings and acquaintances.

Basically, we are responsible for the unfolding of our lives, whichever way they move. It's this very notion that allows us the freedom to remove ourselves from the negativity, the boxes and the chains. If we put ourselves there, then we can free ourselves. There are ways. And there is time. But the time is now to clear. The time is now to see you can get out of the prison you've entered voluntarily.

You built the prison, and you are the guard. All you must do is truly get to know these guards. See why they’ve been guarding you, keeping you locked inside. See what makes them tick. See what makes them mad, sad, guilty, tense, uptight. And most of all see what makes them cry.

All you must do is search within this keeper and get to the truth of the matter, get to the roots of those issues blocking the flow of love and life. You must use whichever path or tool works best for you to reach your blockages. And once you get to the blocks and blow past them, you'll see that you can be lighter. You'll see you can be outside of the definitions, traps and boxes.

Then here, at this time, you'll see that you never were really stuck at all. It was just a deception, a lie you made up because you didn't want to see the truth, a truth that forever knows … You are free.

"Why?" - The Question My Dog Never Asks

Puppy Hennessy alert and ready for life.
"Why?"

It's a question I often ask - to myself and before others.
  • Why is the third hand on the watch called a second hand?
  • Why isn't there a special name for the tops of your feet?
  • Why do I eat when I'm not hungry?
And deeper questions:
  • Why are we born?
  • Why do we have to get old?
  • Why do the Miami Dolphins often tank at the end of a season and fail to make the playoffs?
I heard it may be a Scorpio thing - this incessant digging, probing and questioning ... to get to the bottom of things, and to discover their purpose.

The other thing I noticed is that my dog doesn't ever do any of this.

I bet you even Scorpio dogs don't hold the question of "why" on their minds. I believe it's a very human endeavor ... and one that can be as uplifting and expanding as it is exasperating and depressing.

Just look at my pooch. The picture of her as a puppy shows a very alert and attentive, as well as incredibly cute, canine. Nowadays, she will often sit there on her lovely dog bed perch and just exist. When there is someone on the porch, she will bark and race towards the door, routinely sliding into it in her haste to protect the household and all its inhabitants. When she's hungry, she'll get up and sit before her mother and just stare. It's her way of saying "Hello, I'm hungry; it's time to get up and feed me." When she has an itch, she scratches. When she's tired, she sleeps.

Never once does she, I imagine, ever ask the question "why" for any of these endeavors.

Hers, like for many animals, is a world of instinct. Need followed up by action. I don't see a hesitation between the arising need (gotta pee) and the complimentary action (stand by the door). She doesn't have to ponder deeply the purpose of what she does. It's instinctual, and the activity of questioning it would only delay the satisfaction of a filled belly, an empty bladder or a scared intruder.

And then there are us humans. The heavy plodding along to find purpose in our world. The why's and wherefores of all the slings and arrows. It's enough to send us all over the edge. It can't be as simple as a need, a feeling and then an action. We must find the underlying purpose for these behaviors and endeavors. It's not enough for us to just be ... to love what we love and to turn from that which doesn't serve us.
  • A beautiful sunrise to become a smile on our face.
  • A gentle hug from a friend to become joy in the heart.
  • A lovely meal from a spouse to become a satisfied hunger.
Can it be enough to live life, observe the observable, experience our desires and wants and then act upon them ... with the result being more observation, wants, needs and then actions.

Can it be that way? Can it be so effortless and free? If you say that it cannot, I just have to ask...

Why not?
